What is "The Workshop"?
The Workshop is a space designed for my speculative, experimental and skill building projects which I want to highlight and showcase. They may be unpolished and unfinished, but resemble a scrap book of inspiration and development.
It's a space to provide a little insight into my out of hours experiments as a designer and highlight how I am always exploring and experimenting with software tools, current trends and design theory.
Will these be case study posts?
Most likely no. The Workshop posts will probably be a selection of screenshots or end pictures throughout the process with a little paragraph explaining what's going on. I wouldn't want to rule out case studies but I think they fall out of the scope for the space.
How I want to highlight work is similar to that of Dribbble and Dzn.gg. Here's an example workshop project I posted to dzn.gg already: https://dzn.gg/d/michi-1649437869363x439984778093264900
I'll provide any relevant credits, sources, or context on each posts, if there's any questions about any of the content please reach out and I'll answer the best I can!
When is the workshop releasing?
I'm in no rush to get The Workshop out, so it will be released when I feel like it's in a state that I am happy to show people. That may be in a week, it may be in a month. I'm not sure, but it's starting to take shape and I'm excited to share it when it's ready!
Why "The Workshop"?
I went through a bunch of possible names for the space, The Workshop felt most design-ery and best related to how I felt the space to feel.
I originally had three options: "Labs" or "The Lab", "Personal" and "Experiments" but none really felt like it was a space that I'd want to update frequently. "Labs" felt too refined and surgical, Personal lacked any personality and experiments felt limiting.
Eventually I settled on "The Workshop" which I felt reflected more of the rough and unpolished state of projects that end up here.
